A Holiday Message from Peace Tree

 Lloyd’s musings on the Holidays.

As I sit here, on the morning of Christmas Eve, the crew is finishing up the last tasks before heading off to spend time with family, loved ones and friends. I will be doing the same, heading over to a dear friend’s home tonight. They take pity on me, including me in their celebration because they know that I am alone at Christmas almost every year, and I LOVE them for thinking of me. The dogs are just not the same as having my darling, Candy, here, but she now takes her Mom to visit her sister in Virginia for Christmas, and I man the parapets at home.

So, I have a LOT of time to reflect, to think about what really MATTERS, what we want for ourselves, but also for others. How do we live our life, what is the reason we do what we do? How do we do this thing, and still maintain respect and honor and caring for the planet and people? It makes me realize just how important all of you are to me, and reinforces why we grow what we do and HOW we grow it—so that this world will be cleaner and better than it is now for the next generations. You see, we cannot just continue to pour chemicals and fertilizers into the environment, we cannot waste things or energy, and expect it to just be fine anymore. So we do our part, in any way we can—recycling EVERYTHING, using organic techniques, using nature to control pests and disease. It is NOT about money, not at all, but about us, all of us, and the future.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate all of you out there, our colleagues and customers. We have been doing this now, Candy and I, for 33 years now, and so many of you have been along for that ride!! Amazing. There are so many new one, too, and tons of the next generations coming along, both within Peace Tree and in the customers—and we are thrilled with that development. The energy and passion keep me excited, give me a reason to make sure the farm stays here and gets better. As we continue to expand edible production, greens, herbs, and branch into new markets with the coolest assortment of wonderful and unusual plants, we want to make sure that YOU are all included, that your needs are satisfied, that you are thrilled with what we do and why we do it, and that we all move into the future with a powerful sense of the need to take care of each other. It is the only way it works, and we thank you for all your support for all these years and into the next decades.

My heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation for you and yours at this holiday season. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year. Mele Kalikimaka! Live long and prosper. No, wait, I got this! Peace. There, that says it just right.
