Growing Unique & Unusual Plants For More Than 35 Years

Located in Kintnersville, in the countryside of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Peace Tree Farm grows quality plants in one acre of greenhouses on a historic 25-acre farm. The property, purchased by Lloyd and Candy Traven in 1983, was named ‘Peace Tree Farm’ inspired by the Native American word “tohickon”, which means “peace tree”.

Growing specialty lavenders, organic herbs and vegetable plants, unusual begonias, as well as specialty annuals and blooming potted crops. We provide other growers with pre-finished and young plants and offer fine quality finished plants to independent garden centers, botanical gardens, museums, estate gardeners and horticultural groups.

To grow better plants with sustainable practices, we strive to push beyond the bounds of conventional horticulture. Our growing practices combine an innovative biological pest control system with state-of-the-art greenhouse technology. Our herb and vegetable plants are USDA Certified Organic, giving you the peace of mind that comes with independent third-party verification of our growing practices. While we do not certify our ornamental crops, they are all grown to our exacting environmental standards.

A Family Run Business

Owners

Lloyd, Candy, and Alex Traven

If Lloyd is the technological mastermind behind Peace Tree Farm, then certainly Candy is the heart of the operation. Her gift of a potted coleus to him early in their courtship was beginning of their journey together as growers.

Lloyd and Candy purchased the Peace Tree Farm property in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1983. They have grown Peace Tree Farm from ‘the little greenhouses up on the hill’ to an established and respected operation among international horticulture. Lloyd is a technology guru and advocate for small growers, being among the first to successfully invest in sophisticated environmental control systems for their operation. He conducts seminars and makes presentations at growing industry conferences and conventions.

Lloyd and Candy’s son Alex has come on board as the future of the business. His focus is on advanced biocontrol methods, sustainability, and a millennial perspective as the driving force behind the operation.
